International students must register at the local police station within 24 hours of check-in upon their arrival and get the Registration Form of Temporary Residence.
The residence registration needs to be updated within 24 hours in the following cases: 1) there is any change to the address, passport, visa or residence permit; or 2) re-enter China; or 3) the residence registration comes to expiration. International students who fail to register in time will be treated as illegal residents with a penalty of a maximum of 2,000RMB from the public security bureau.
Step 1
Scan the QR code on WeChat.

Step 2
Click “Start Declaration”, fill in the information as required and go to the next step until the declaration is successfully submitted.

Step 3
Fill in the personal information and the current residence information. The “Household number” in the current residence information must be obtained by “SCANNING” the house QR code. If you cannot find the QR code for the household number, please contact the property management or the landlord. Please note that manually entering the number may not valid.

Step 4
Check the system about the status. (Scan the QR code again and click “QUERY”). When it shows “APPROVED”, please download from your phone and print by yourself; if it doesn’t show “APPROVED” for more than one week, please go to the police station in person to collect it. You will be asked to present the copy when you apply for the residence permit in the future.
