HIT/HITSZ – Cradle of Engineers

 

Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) is recognized as a prominent member of the C9 League and is often referred to as "the cradle of engineers in China." HIT has established a global reputation, consistently ranking in the top 10 of the US News Ranking for Engineering over several years, and achieving high positions across major global ranking systems. Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen (HITSZ), which was established in 2002 as one of HIT's three campuses, currently hosts over 12,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students. More than 80% of the faculty members have either studied or worked abroad, enabling them to teach proficiently in both English and Chinese, while also fostering a global network of research collaborations. HITSZ currently has over 1,000 international students, hailing from more than 60 countries and regions. The majority of HITSZ graduates pursue careers in high-tech companies and research institutions.

lMore than 60% of graduates are employed in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area;

lMore than 70% of the graduates work in Huawei, Tencent, Mindray and other well-known enterprises;

lMore than 100 graduates have founded their own companies, 85% founded in Shenzhen, and 89% being scientific and technological enterprises. Among these alumni enterprises, a number of national-level enterprises have emerged on the new third board and as "unicorn" companies.

  

lUndergraduate Programs(ALL Taught in English)

1. When submitting your application, please ensure that you fill in two choices. This may allow for an alternative option should your first choice not be accepted.

2. If your first choice is not accepted, we may allocate you to a major based on your second choice. Please adhere to the principle of separating Liberal Arts and Sciences when choosing your second choice. If your first choice is for an "Liberal Arts" major, your second choice should also be for an" Liberal Arts" major. Similarly, if your first choice is for a "Science" major, your second choice should also be for a "Science" major.

3. Students who have chosen "Liberal Arts" majors for both their first and second choice must take an online mathematics exam. Students who have chosen "Science" majors for both their first and second choice must take an online mathematics and physics exam (please await our formal email for specific exam details).

 

lWho Can Apply?

nCitizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China complying with the relevant regulations set by Document No. 12 (2020) of Ministry of Education of the PRC;

nHigh school diploma holder and under the age of 25;

nIn good health both mentally and physically.

    

lWhen to Apply?

nApplication Opens: December, 9^th, 2024;

nDeadline for Application: May, 20th, 2025.

 

lApplication Materials

All application documents in other languages must be notarized in English or Chinese. All documents shall be submitted online:

nPassport home page（MUST Valid beyond September 30^th, 2025）;

nHigh school diploma or degree certificate(the expected graduation certificate can be acceptable,but the original graduation certificate must be submitted at the time of registration);

nOfficial transcripts;

nLanguage proficiency certificates：

uTOEFL≥ 80, IELTS≥ 6.0 or Duolingo English Test ≥ 90;

uOfficial English Proficiency Statement from the high school;

uNo certificates when applicant’s first language is English;

nA photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form (usually issued within six months before the application submission date);

nNon-criminal record report (valid within 6 months);

nBank Statement (at least CNY 20,000 or equivalent foreign currency);

nPayment receipt of application fee (Screen Shot);

nProof of outstanding academic achievements, sports, art, cultural exchanges, public welfare activities, etc. (not mandatory).

 

lHow to Apply?

nStep 1: Login online application at hitsz.at0086.cn/student (by computer), fill in required application information and upload application materials;Please be sure to fill in the applicant's personal email to ensure timely receipt of relevant notifications;

nStep 2: Pay application fee of CNY 400/ USD 60 (Non-refundable once applied). There are two ways to pay. You can use either way to make the payment. Prefer Wechat Payment.

nStep 3: Upload application fee payment receipt and submit application online.

nStep 4: Keep track of admission result. Admission Notice from HITSZ will be issued to Qualified applications after their successfully submission.

*Notes:  1. Dormitory check-in procedures is after university registration;

2. The dormitory fees are not including Utility and WIFI fees.

3. University dormitory is for students to live in only. And the number of room types is limited. First come, first served. Please book online as soon as possible after being admitted, and arrangements will be made based on the student's booking situation.

        4. According to relevant regulations in China, international students shall be covered by designated insurance during their study and stay in China.

*Note: 1. Both Guangdong Government Outstanding International Students Scholarship and Shenzhen Universiade International Scholarship are one-year scholarship with limited quota.  Shenzhen Universiade International Scholarship will be determined in April to May each year and Guangdong Government Outstanding International Students Scholarship will be determined in June to August  with off-line application procedures. Students can apply one of these scholarship with HITSZ Scholarship.

2. HITSZ Entrance Scholarship will be applied and determined during online application; Scholarship status will be reviewed according to students’ performance at the end of the first academic year..
