HITSZ Hosts 2025 Xili Lake Forum “Open Day”

SHENZHEN, November 16 — Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen (HITSZ) welcomed the public to its “Open Day” as part of the 2025 Xili Lake Forum. Visitors enjoyed an immersive experience showcasing HIT’s centennial heritage and the campus’s innovative vitality.

The journey began at the Comprehensive Exhibition Hall, where student guides presented the university’s history and development. Guests then visited the Rocket Plaza, a landmark of HIT’s aerospace identity, for photos.  

 

 

Highlighting the fusion of technology and art, the Interdisciplinary Creative Industry Teaching Laboratory featured an 8-meter 3D screen and CAVE system. Visitors experienced virtual tours of the ocean floor, outer space, and “Pixel Nantou Ancient City.” This digital recreation is a course project by over 100 Digital Media Art students, who utilized Minecraft to model the historic city. The demonstration captivated visiting middle school students, many of whom expressed a strong desire to study at HITSZ.

 

 

In the engineering labs, attendees explored professional-grade facilities. The Recording Engineering Laboratory demonstrated intelligent audio processing, while the Intelligent Manufacturing Laboratory displayed advanced equipment like laser cutters and CNC machines. At the Materials Physics and Biomaterials Laboratories, visitors operated electron microscopes to observe the microscopic structures of butterfly wings and metals.

 

 

Throughout the event, volunteers and staff provided guidance and assistance, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all the visitors.
