Findings by the team of HITSZ's Prof. Xiao Shumin made it to the list of China's Top 10 Optical Breakthroughs During 2021

2022-07-08

On May 23, the Chinese Journal of Lasers released China's Top 10 Optical Breakthroughs During 2021. One of them was a polarization-insensitive broadband achromatic metalens based on titanium dioxide for near-IR biological imaging, developed by the team of Prof. Xiao Shumin from HITSZ's School of Materials Science and Engineering. This offers the possibility of replacing traditional lenses with lightweight metalenses. As a result, onboard optical components for medical imaging can be further miniaturized and integrated. The findings were published as a paper entitled High-efficiency broadband achromatic metalens for near-IR biological imaging window in Nature Communications on September 21, 2021. Its first author is the doctoral student Wang Yujie, its co-first authors are Chen Qinfu, Yang Wenhong, and Ji Ziheng, and its correspondent author is Prof. Xiao Shumin.
