First time in 70 years! The International Astronautical Federation Awarded the Highest Award to Wu Weiren and Other Chinese Space Scientists

The reporter learned from the Chinese Society of AstronauticsCSA that Wu Weiren, Chief Designer of China's lunar exploration project, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chief Academic Adviser of Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen, won the 2020 IAFWorld Space Award of the International Astronautical Federation with other team members on XX, 2020. This is the first time that the Federationhas presentedthe highest award to Chinese space scientists since the IAF was founded 70 years ago.


The IAF World Space Award is the highest aerospace award set by the International Astronautical Federation, which aims to recognize aerospace scientists and technicians who have made outstanding achievements in the aerospace field. The Chang'e-4 project realized the landing and patrol detection on the far side of the moon by humankindprobe for the first time, realized the continuous and reliable relay communication between the back of the moon and the earth by using the Earth-Moon Lagrange L2 relay communication satellite for the first time, and carried out lunar scientific exploration and low-frequency radio spectrums astronomical observation on the far sideof the moon for the first time, filling many gaps in the field of lunar scientific exploration in the world.
