Shenzhen, September 14 - The "New Face of the Yao Mountains — The 6th International Rural Maker Rally" was recently held in Jinxiu Yao Autonomous County, Laibin City, Guangxi. The event was co-hosted by HITSZ, the Jinxiu Yao Autonomous County People's Government, and the Jinxiu County Youth League Committee. Twenty-five student makers from HITSZ and partner universities, both domestic and international, conducted a five-day field research and practice program.

The event was organized under a rural revitalization interdisciplinary innovation practicum course taught by Professor Guo Xiangmin of the Future Faculty at HITSZ. Participating students visited local museums and traditional Yao villages, experienced intangible cultural heritage handicrafts of the Yao people, ventured into the mountains to identify Yao medicinal herbs, and conducted research at a Yao medicine industrial park and a designated assistance demonstration village, gathering project materials around Yao medicine industry upgrading, cultural tourism integration, and ancient village preservation.

Based on their field research, the student teams completed innovative project designs and held project roadshows, producing a series of youth creative projects in areas such as study tour development and IP creation. During the event, representatives of enterprises from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area shared industry experience on site, and students also joined a bonfire party to immerse themselves in Yao folk culture. Peng Fei, Standing Committee Member and Deputy County Head of Jinxiu County; Zhang Aishu, Deputy Party Secretary of the Future Faculty; and Liang Xianfei, First Secretary of Sanyou Village, provided guidance throughout the event. The event connected field research, project planning, project roadshows, and government-enterprise matching, using youth creativity to support local rural revitalization.
